Bless A Child is a registered Community Based Organization in Obule, Uganda. The vision of Bless A Child is a transformed community where orphaned children know their identity in Christ, and have the ability to provide emotional, educational, and spiritual support for their families in the future because of the education, love, and guidance they received.
History of Bless A Child Uganda
Bless A Child was founded in 2010 by Pastor Fred and Ruth Alimet from nearby Soroti. At that time, Ruth was campaigning for a government position. Almost every church she visited asked her to pray for the orphaned children in their community. She prayed, but her family also began making jewelry to help pay for school materials for orphaned children.
Ruth was born to a poor family, and she herself was orphaned at a very young age. Raised by extended family that did not show her love, Ruth’s desire is to raise men and women of integrity to be sent out and sing the Father’s song of hope and restoration to orphans and vulnerable children.
Fred’s passion and support for his wife’s vision has led him to become active in speaking to local pastors about God’s heart for the orphan and the response of the Church. Fred is the founder and pastor of Jesus The Way Ministries, and also a volunteer regional coordinator for Christian Alliance for Orphans (CAFO) in Eastern Uganda. Fred and Ruth have four children – one adopted and four biological.
